1. How do I get help when using SEN Diary?
Make reference to the User Manual – Can be accessed from the Help Panel
To find out about a button on the Diary Form click one of the buttons – this will provide you with a Crib Sheet
To seek assitance in Setting Up SEN Diary

2. How do I evaluate the SEN Diary Demo?
Use the Demo set of data to try out the How-do-I?s in the manual
When you feel comfortable with the Demo data set, start using the Live data set

3. I do not have Microsoft Access.   You either need to install Microsoft Access (version 2000) or find another machine at your school on which it is installed. Don’t forget that you can, as an educational establishment, buy Microsoft products at a huge discount.

4. I only have Microsoft Access version 97.   Sadly, SEN Diary is no longer available for Access 97.

5. I am using Windows XP and the short-cut icon says that a file is missing.   To overcome this you will need to open Access from the programs menu and then browse to find SEN Diary:
From the Start menu select Programs>Microsoft Access
Browse until you find SEN Diary; if you installed SEN Diary in its default location this will be found in C:\SENDiary\SENDiary (not the one with file name ending in either ‘_Demo’ or ‘_Live’).
The next time you want to start using SEN Diary, all you may need to do is select one of the list of previously-opened applications.

6. I wish to use SEN Diary on a school network.   Please read the notes on using SEN Diary on a network and/or e-mail SEN Diary for advice.

7. I have a problem not mentioned elsewhere.   Please e-mail SEN Diary stating:
The version of Windows (press the start button and the version should be displayed)
The version of SEN Diary (In the [blue] title bar when SEN Diary is open, eg v1.040628)
The version of Microsoft Access (Menu – Help>About Microsoft Access)
      The problem
If all else fails you can ring 01603 452056 at any reasonable time (including evenings) – leave a message if there is no reply and your call will be returned as soon as possible

8. SEN Diary can be used as an At Risk register.   One user has suggested that SEN Diary could double as an At Risk register.
For those children who are not on the SEN Register, flag them as SEN Stage No Concern/Monitoring.
Use one of the Extra Tick Columns as the At Risk flag and make it Confidential.

9. I want to move SEN Diary to a different PC.   These instructions will also upgrade you to the latest version.
Create a new Folder on the new PC’s C: drive called SENDiary.
Those of you who feel confident can create a new folder elsewhere if you prefer but remember that you must have no spaces in the path name.
Move the following files from the SENDiary folder on the currect PC to the SENDiary folder just created:
SENDiary_Hold.mde but only if you have the same Computer User Name
    SENDiary_Live.mde
    Upgrade_01.txt
    Upgrade_02.txt
(If there are any missing then this only means that you have an old version. If there are others in the series Upgrade_01.txt, then move these also.)
Download the latest version form the web site
Install to the SENDiary folder created above (default C:\SENDiary).
If you are moving from an installation made before February 2007 you may find that you need a new unlocking code – Request new unlocking code.

10. Are there no buttons shown above the list of pupils?   SEN Diary requires a resolution of 96 dpi. You may be experiencing this problem with a display set at 120 dpi. I’ve experienced this on a PC which is running Dolphin Supanova Magnifier.
Select Control Panel (from Start Button > Settings).
      Select Display.
Select Settings Tab and find the option to change the dpi.
      Change the dpi to 96.
      Click OK.
You may need to re-boot your PC for the change to take effect.

11. Apple Mac Users   Don’t be left out! Use parallels. Parallels Desktop for Mac is the first solution that gives Apple users the ability to run Windows alongside Mac OS X in a secure, isolated virtual machine. Parallels Desktop works with Intel-powered Apple, including iMac, Mac Mini, MacBook and MacBook Pro
Please note that one or two things are different when SEN Diary running on parallels. These differences will be posted on this page when they are discovered.
Press Fn Shift F2 to zoom into data instead of Shift F2.

12. I've downloaded the latest release and my licence registration details are no longer accepted.   If you are upgrading an installation made before February 2007 you may find that you need a new unlocking code – Request new unlocking code.
